EDLD 5301- Week 2 Reflection

This week while reading and working on my assignments, I have learned that it is important to stay on topic while doing my research. Research should have a clear, specific topic. I need to come up with specific questions that I want answered for that topic and not sway to far from those questions. It should also choose a topic that has significance. How is the topic I choose going to help me and my students? This week's reading have really got me thinking about my topic in a different way.

EDLD 5301- Using Blogs

Blogs could be a very useful tool for educational leaders. One way they could be used is for communication with parents. They could post important dates and announcements that parents would need to know. Teacher could use blogs to write about what they are doing in their classrooms. Homework assignments could also be posted online.

Blogs are also helpful when doing action research and keeping others updated on what your research is. Data that has been collected could also be posted on the blog.

EDLD 5301- Action Research

After my first week of studying action research, I have learned that action research is studying issues within your school. Action research is collecting data and using it to make necessary changes. When doing action research it is important to use the data that has been collected to your benefit. Teachers cannot be sensitive to critiques based on the data collected. In order to be a great teacher, you have to be able to change when needed. By conducting your own research, using your own teachers, at your own school, you are able to break down any issues. You have the inside look at what everyone is doing and making sure everyone is on the same page.

Action research can be used in many ways. One of the most recent ways action research is being used is when it comes to technology. Since technology is becoming more present in the classroom, teachers are having to use programs they are not as familiar with. Action research could be used to make sure they are using the technology to the best of their ability.
